Calgary, AB – February 23, 2017 – RGL is deepening its technical bench strength with the addition of two PhD’s with sand control engineering experience to its Business Development team.
Dr. Vahid Fattahpour’s degree in rock mechanics is backed by his involvement in numerous research projects related to geo-mechanics; sand control testing and sand control modeling. He has written and published multiple technical papers related to his field of expertise including the recently published Classification of Alberta Oil Sands Based on Particle Size Distribution for Sand Control Design and Experimental Applications (SPE-185000-MS).
Dr. Mahdi Mahmoudi has a Ph.D. in petroleum engineering and has active experience as both a completions engineer and research engineer. He has also written and published numerous technical papers and has conducted several conference presentations including Effect of Near Wellbore Stress on the Performance of Slotted Liner Completions in SAGD Operations (SPE- SPE-182507-MS) presented at the SPE 2016 Thermal Well Integrity and Design Symposium.
Both Dr. Fattahpour and Dr. Mahmoudi were part of the University of Alberta Civil and Petroleum Engineering program and have worked with RGL in the past on research projects related to optimizing heavy oil production rates.
Dr. Fattahpour and Dr. Mahmoudi will be integral to RGL in supporting the establishment of its Sand Control Testing Lab to be located in Leduc, AB.
