Calgary, AB – January 24, 2017 - RGL’s Business Development Team was front and center, exhibiting and presenting papers during the 2016 SPE Thermal Well Integrity and Design Symposium, held on November 29th to December 1st, at the Fairmont Banff Springs Resort.
Within the exhibit hall, RGL’s booth looked professional, inviting and stood out amongst the competition with brand new sand control and flow control models showcased. In addition to exhibiting and presenting, RGL was pleased to sponsor the Audio/Visual component of the Symposium.
RGL and the University of Alberta co-authored several papers in 2016, with two distinguished speakers presenting the following papers at this year’s Symposium:
1. New Criteria for Slotted Liner Design for Heavy Oil Thermal Production, SPE-182511; presented by Mahdi Mahmoudi (Ph.D. student)
2. Effect of Near Wellbore Effective Stress on the Performance of Slotted Liner Completions in SAGD Operations, SPE-182507; presented by Dr. Ali Nouri-Reza (P.Eng., Professor).
An ePoster was also provided by the University of Alberta and RGL which was displayed in the foyer area: Investigation into the Use of Commercial Sands and Fines to Replicate Oil Sands for Large-Scale Sand Control Testing (ePoster) SPE – 182517
Due to popular demand, RGL continued the tradition of hosting 20+ person dinner events for distinguished customers at the Balkan, a Greek restaurant, and the Park Distillery, which serves campfire-inspired cuisine. The food was excellent and the event was greatly appreciated by all guests.
In summary, the Symposium and events were a success. RGL’s team was able to demonstrate technological product advancements, present technical research findings, as well as promote themselves as a leader in sand control, flow control and thermal downhole tool solutions.
RGL looks forward to this event every year and would like to thank SPE and their staff for hosting yet another successful, entertaining and educational conference.
